RNLI Penlee Life Boat Station, Penzance
There are two lifeboats stationed at Penlee, an All-weather (ALB) Severn Class lifeboat and an Inshore Atlantic 85. It is proposed to demolish the existing building and to build an extended station on a larger footprint. The works are necessary to provide modern crew facilities in line with current standards.
The RNLI have, through continual assessment, developed a standard that must be met at all of its stations to ensure that the crew and volunteers are provided with the best and most efficient on shore facilities. These facilities include crew changing, training rooms, storage of equipment and personal protective equipment.
Marbas were appointed by the RNLI to carry out the design of the building super and sub-structure and the drainage design for the replacement station.
The Lifeboat station has now completed construction as of July 2019!
